About the scheme

The scheme places appropriate individuals as board apprentices on the boards or senior leadership teams of a host organisation for one year. As a result, they gain first-hand experience by observing the workings and dynamics of a board.

By joining the scheme, your organisation offers to both host a talented individual at your board (or senior leadership team) meetings, while also providing your own talented employees with the opportunity to observe the board meetings within another organisation.   

Each selected board apprentice candidate will:

  1. Attend a development programme to prepare for the boardroom
  2. Be interviewed and placed with a host organisation in a non-competing sector
  3. Be mentored by the host organisation’s nominated Director
